The name of my city, Rijeka, literally means river, which is why it has come to be known as the city that flows.
And indeed, a river called Rječina runs through the city. But what flows through this once-great port and former industrial city, above all, is people.
In the past, they mostly arrived, finding work in factories and shipyards. They would drop anchor in the port and stay.
Today, they are more likely to leave. They pass one another. Sometimes they meet in passing.
They flow.
In 2023, The City That Flows received the Viktor Hreljanović Award (First Prize) at the Rijeka Now and Rijeka Then Photography Competition and was exhibited in Rijeka, Croatia.
